My First Hive

A beekeeper. I have always wanted to be a beekeeper, I love them, and find the the most incredible little creatures.
Now I've finally done it, I purchased my first hive!

I've had my little girls, and the odd fella, for about 2½ months now, and it is honestly the best thing I could have done. Not only is it great for pollination, but for mental health too! Or at least mine.

At the moment in Western Australia,  we are in our cool winter months, this is a time of the year where the bees have culled numbers, and slowed down, to preserve their hive. Although these beautiful girls are still working hard on the sunny days, buzzing around the garden, retrieving all sorts of coloured pollen. Currently they are finding some beautiful, creamy white pollen.

It will bee important though as it gets colder to supplement some food, trying to ensure they make it through, and have a happy buzzy spring.

Happy beekeeping and gardening! Remember avoid using sprays so these buzzies keep buzzing! Fuzzy buzzies will post more come spring.
