My Garden - An Update
The 2nd of May, that was when we had our first lot of rain from the year, a drizzle I'll admit, my in the last four weeks, and with a major hit of rain, my garden appears to have taken off, with a whole new lease of life.
In the last four months I have thrown so much at my ground in an effort to restore it and bring it back to life, and , all of a suddenit has gone dry, hydrophobis earth, to luscious, full bloomed, and springing forth life everywhere!
In this last two-ish months since the rain began, the roses were the first to start kicking off, all of a sudden new growth sprung, and buds blossomed in mass! The candy striper leading the way!
Then followed a massive pop up of fungi (mushrooms), not just one or two, but probably a good 50 odd, and of several species. This tells me my soil is filled my mycelium 'chewing' away and bringing nutrients and water to my plants and grass roots.
Which was the next to flourish. The grass has gone nuts, and not just in height, it has completely transformed. Grass blades have widened, and become much greener, new shoots and runners have spread, some easily up to two feet long!
The bees are still foraging, even with the morning temperatures now reaching 4-5 degrees celcius, they continue to buzz industriously, especially having recently bumbled across my umberella tree, thats in flower.
I'm also starting a few cuttings for propagation. My mum's neighbour has hives also and are currently loving her Datura, which, I can;t blame them for, it is literally dripping with nectar! So this is what I'm trying to propagate, a stunning apricot/ peach Datura, commonly called, Angels Trumpet.
Between the insane amount of wetting agents, and my partner fixing and redirecting our downpipes, the water is finally sinking into the ground where it is needed.
I've also been adding fertilisers, three main ones in particular:
- Rapid raiser
- Seasmungus
- Rooster Booster
Bit of a realisation here that I'm only using Neutrog products! Having said that, if I can find Human Beans again, I will definitely be adding more of that! (Still Neutrog!)
