Fragrant Freesias
Freesia's are stunning, and beautifully fragrant bulbs. You will see them starting to mass flower right now if you are in Western Australia.
Freesia's like a well drained, loose and enriched soil, so lots of organic matter, and try make sure the area is well dug over. Adding aged/composted manures, organic matter and composts will be very welcome.
Planting freesias is easy once the ground is prepared, make small wholes to the depth of about 5cm and about 5cm apart, cover back over and ta-da!
These bulbs also don't need to be dug back up, just leave them in the ground all year and let them do their thing.
Freesia's make a wonderful addition to any garden, adding both fragrance and colour.
They can, however, be a bit of a pest if not disposed of properly, as the spread easily. This is why you will see them a lot along the road sides.
