5 Quick Gardening Tips
1. To smother and suppress weeds you can use cardboard, which is free in most cases instead of expensive weed matting.
It will break down into the soil, improving it, and encourage micro-organisms. Weed matting is expensive and contributes nothing to the soil, rather the opposite. Plus once something is on top of it you will still get weeds making a home.
2. Hand picking and removing pesky bugs can be far more effective than spray, as it allows natural predators to still come into the garden and prey on those things you want gone, and doesn't kill all your beneficial pollinators at the same time. Simply remove grubs and either bag and bin/freeze them or feed th to your chickens.
3. Try water from below the plant and in the morning. This is the best way to avoid burning and problems such as powdery mildew or your beautiful plants.
4. Banana peels make a great source of potassium for your plants. Either hurry them in the garden or soak and blend them with water and distribute amongst plants.
5. Raw honey makes a fantastic natural rooting hormone for your cuttings, plus it's tasty!
