A Winter Wonderland

Winter is very nearly upon us, and in our gardens this marks the start of another growing season. It's our winter vegetables, making those stews and roasts all the more tasty.

Turnips, parsnips, potatoes galore! Cabbages, radishes, carrots and more!
That's what we're planting this winter, but that's not all we can grow in this frosty season.

Now is the time to grab our seeds and seedlings, some good compost and fertilisers and hop to the garden and start planting:
. Brocolli
. Cauliflower
. Cabbage and other brassicas
. Carrots
. Parsnips
. Turnips
. Alliums such as leeks, onions and garlic
. Beetroot
. Peas
. Beans
. Potatoes
Plus heaps more like leafy greens.

Remember to double check the back of seed packets to ensure it is the correct time to sow seeds in your area.

Soil preparation is always key, remove weeds so they don't compete with your tiny babies, dig through some good quality compost and well composted manures, and, especially with root veggies, make sure rocks are removed and soil clumps are broken up, this ensures there are no obstacles and your babies can grow big and strong!

Once they're planted or shooting, water well with seasol or another seaweed tonic, this gives them a good boost and helps them to try resist pest and disease.

Let's hop to it!
